General information

Liposuction for men is used for targeted body definition and contour improvement. Male fat distribution differs significantly from female – typical problem areas are the abdomen, flanks ("love handles"), chest and back. The aim is a masculine silhouette with clear lines, without soft transitions or feminising effects.

Diagnosis and indication

Liposuction is indicated if local fat deposits remain despite training and a healthy diet. A stable body weight and sufficiently good skin elasticity are required. Particularly suitable are:

  • Abdomen & flanks
  • Male chest (often combined with gynaecomastia surgery)
  • Lower back
  • 360-degree liposuction for an all-round torso contour

Who is the procedure suitable for?

Well suited for

  • stubborn fat deposits on the abdomen, flanks, chest or back
  • stable weight, as close as possible to your target weight
  • sufficiently elastic skin

Rather not, or only later

  • severe overweight (liposuction is not a weight-loss method)
  • visceral abdominal fat beneath the abdominal muscles, which cannot be suctioned
  • pronounced excess skin – a tightening procedure helps more here

Before surgery

Before the procedure there is a detailed consultation and physical examination. The treatment areas are marked and the desired definition is discussed (athletic vs. natural). It is clarified whether a combination with skin-tightening technologies (e.g. BodyTite / Renuvion) makes sense. Instructions on preparing for surgery (no nicotine, medication) are part of the planning.

Surgical method

Liposuction is performed through fine cannulas with modern technology to achieve even contours. 360-degree liposuction shapes the abdomen, waist and back in one session for a harmonious overall look. Depending on skin quality, the treatment can be combined with energy-assisted tightening to optimise skin retraction.

Anaesthesia, duration and stay

Depending on the extent, the procedure is performed under twilight sedation or general anaesthesia. It takes about one to three hours. Possible as an outpatient or with a short hospital stay.

After surgery

Swelling and bruising are normal. A compression garment must be worn for several weeks. Light movement is encouraged; intensive sport should be paused temporarily.

Recovery & result

The contours become increasingly visible as the swelling subsides. The final result shows after about three to six months. The silhouette looks more defined, athletic and masculine.

Risks and possible complications

In addition to general surgical risks such as bleeding, infection or thrombosis, seromas, hardening, temporary numbness or unevenness of the skin surface may occur. Large volumes put more strain on the circulation, so the amount per session is limited by the doctor.

Summary

Liposuction for men is an effective procedure for targeted body shaping. 360-degree liposuction in particular allows a balanced, powerful appearance – provided indication and technique are tailored to the individual.

Frequently asked questions

How much fat can be removed?

The doctor decides this based on findings and state of health. For safety reasons the amount per session is limited; larger areas are sometimes spread over two appointments.

Will the fat come back?

Removed fat cells do not come back. With significant weight gain, however, the remaining fat cells can enlarge, so a stable weight is important.

What is six-pack sculpting?

A 360° liposuction that additionally accentuates the contours of the abdominal muscles. It requires a relatively low body fat percentage and good skin.

How long do I wear compression garments?

Usually about 4–6 weeks, day and night at first. They help the swelling go down and the skin to settle.
