Questions and answers
What men ask us most often before cosmetic surgery.
Will anyone find out about my enquiry?
No. Your enquiry is treated confidentially. If you wish, we contact you only by e-mail or at an agreed time.
How does the support work?
We support you personally with planning, preparation, organisation and aftercare.
Can I combine several procedures?
Often yes. The specialist checks which procedures can safely be done at the same time and which are better done in stages.
Which treatments are most common in men?
Particularly popular are gynaecomastia surgery, liposuction of the abdomen and flanks, eyelid surgery, hair transplants and treatments of the neck and jawline.
Where do the operations take place?
In selected specialist clinics in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, with experienced specialist surgeons. We discuss with you which clinic suits your procedure.
Which language is spoken at the clinic?
Our clinics are used to international patients. We support you personally in English or German before, during and after treatment – please ask us about communication in English at your preferred clinic.
How much does treatment cost?
That depends on the procedure, its extent and the clinic. After your enquiry and the initial medical assessment you receive a personal, transparent quote.
Will health insurance cover the costs?
Health insurers generally do not pay for aesthetic procedures. An exception may apply in cases of medical necessity with prior approval, but this is rare for surgery abroad. Ask your insurer in advance.
Which documents and photos do you need from me?
For an initial assessment, a few photos of the body region concerned and brief information on health, pre-existing conditions and medication are usually sufficient. We will give you a secure way to send photos.
How does travel work?
Prague and the other cities are easy to reach by plane, train or car. If you wish, we help with hotel, transfer and scheduling.
Can I drive home myself after surgery?
After anaesthesia you must not drive yourself for a certain time. Plan for a companion or a transfer. The treating doctor determines the exact period.
When can I go back to work and sport?
That depends on the procedure. After smaller procedures it is often a few days, after larger operations several weeks. You resume sport gradually according to medical advice.
Do I need to see my GP before surgery?
Usually yes. Before an operation, blood tests and, depending on age, further examinations are usually necessary. This can be done by your GP or at the clinic on site.
Can I smoke before surgery?
Smoking significantly impairs wound healing. Doctors recommend avoiding nicotine for several weeks before and after the operation.
What happens if I am not satisfied with the result?
Talk to us. We establish contact with the clinic and accompany the aftercare. Whether and when a correction makes sense is decided by the treating specialist.
Is the result guaranteed?
No. Every body heals differently; results are individual and cannot be guaranteed. That is why honest advice with realistic expectations is so important.
Can I get a surgery date at short notice?
Often yes. You can find free dates above under "Short-notice surgery dates". Clicking "Enquire" adds the date directly to your enquiry.
How do I send you photos securely?
Via our page Upload photos securely. The images are transmitted and stored encrypted, only MANN-OP and the clinic see them, and without treatment they are deleted after 90 days at the latest. Please do not send photos by e-mail or WhatsApp.
How quickly will I get an assessment and a quote?
After receiving your photos, we get back to you personally within one working day. The medical assessment and the quote with all costs usually follow within a few working days.
What is included in the price?
This is itemised in your quote – usually the operation, anaesthesia, clinic stay, compression garments and follow-up checks. Travel and hotel are usually not included. More in our guide article Costs of cosmetic surgery (German).
Can I pay for the surgery in instalments?
Yes, via financing partners such as medkred or credit4beauty, or via a loan comparison. The loan agreement is concluded directly with the provider. All information can be found under Financing.
Do I need follow-up cost insurance?
It is voluntary, but often sensible: after cosmetic surgery, German health insurers can reclaim costs for treating complications. Follow-up cost insurance can cover this.
Do I have to pay a deposit?
A deposit is customary to reserve the surgery date bindingly. The amount, due date and payment method are stated in your quote and in the surgery booking order.
Who is my contractual partner for the operation?
You conclude the treatment contract directly with the clinic. MANN-OP arranges, organises and accompanies you; the surgery booking order governs these services.
Are the doctors specialists?
Our partner clinics work with specialists in plastic and aesthetic surgery or the relevant speciality. We introduce the doctors with photos on the clinic pages.
Can I see before and after pictures?
Under the German Medicinal Products Advertising Act (HWG) we are not allowed to show such images publicly. As part of your personal consultation you can receive personal access to examples on request.
Do I need someone to accompany me?
After general anaesthesia or twilight sedation you must not drive yourself for at least 24 hours. You therefore need a companion or a driver service for the journey home, which we are happy to organise.
How long do I stay on site?
That depends on the procedure, from outpatient to a few nights. Many patients arrive the day before. We discuss the exact plan with you in advance.
How does aftercare at home work?
You receive written instructions, follow-up appointments and a direct contact to us and to the clinic. Stitches can often also be removed by your GP.
Can I have surgery with pre-existing conditions?
The doctor decides in each individual case. Please tell us about pre-existing conditions, medication and allergies in full; findings from your GP may be required.
From what age is an operation possible?
Our services are aimed exclusively at men aged 18 and over.
How can I withdraw from the contract?
Simply online via Withdraw from contract or informally by e-mail. Your right of withdrawal and a model form can be found in the withdrawal policy.
